Columbus Day 

Christopher Columbus was an italian explorer and navigator, he was born in 1451 in the republic of Genoa and his first voyage was in 1476. A common misconception about him is that the discovered the "New World", this is not true. He was not even the first european to visit the "New World" but unlike them his voyage was the one who kicked off centuries of exploration and exploitation on the continent of America. Columbus Day is the official day that celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the Americas on October 12, 1492. Although that is the actual date Columbus Day is celebrated on the second month of each October.
