This quote is teaching you how to look at the bigger picture. It is teaching you that you must remember what you want in life not what you want now. Lets say you are at practice working hard right now you might want to take a break because you are tired but you want to win the championship for whatever sport you are in. Will you sacrifice your championship for a little break, being tired goes away being a champion never does.  It is all up to what you really truly want in life, if you would sacrifice your big goal for something little you want now just make sure it is worth it.
