Orthopedic Surgeon

Duties and responsibilities: Orthopedic doctors work primarily with the musculoskeletal system of the body and there job is to repair or treat any issues with this part of the body. They perform many types of surgeries on different things examples of this shoulder and elbow surgery, total joint reconstruction, pediatric orthopedics, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, musculoskeletal oncology, surgical sports medicine.


Salary: $512,000


Education: To become one you need four years of undergraduate study culminating in a Bachelor’s Degree, in biology, chemistry, or another field related to science. You will also need four years of medical school training that includes two years of pre-clinical courses and an internship. In addition to that you also need residency training.


Demand:  It has been projected that from 2014 to 2024 the occupational need for an orthopedic surgeon will increase by 14 percent, which is much faster than average.

After researching this career I have come to the conclusion that this might be in my future. I like working with people and I like helping people recover from injuries, that is why this career intrigued me and why I might further research this career in the future.
